Vintage Cast Iron Hitching Post Horse Head Cap

Vintage Cast Iron Hitching Post Horse Head Cap

This beautiful cast iron horse head dates to the late 1800s. It was used to tie up your horse while you went inside the general store or saloon. The piece would be fastened to a post and set along the streets of the town. Appears to still have some of its original paint and doesn't appear to have ever been repainted. The paint has many decades of exposure. Measures 8″ high x 6″ deep.
